Navantia improves and streamlines the management of its suppliers with SAP Ariba

The company has increased the efficiency of its purchasing processes by 52% and has reduced the supply cycle time by 25%.

Navantia is a public company (SEPI Group) dedicated to the design and construction of ships with high technological content for the Spanish Navy and other Navies. Their activity is focused on three areas: Shipbuilding and repair, Systems and services and Green energies, where they are an international reference in offshore wind energy. It has a headquarters in Madrid, shipyards in
Cartagena, the Bay of Cádiz and the Ría de Ferrol and several international delegations.

After a change in the company's mentality, Navantia is immersed in a digital transformation process and is committed to innovation as a lever of change, investing 9% of its annual income in R&D&I.

After detecting the need to have a single supplier master, Navantia decided to embark on an ambitious yet complicated project in order to integrate and update its environment and systems with SAP Ariba and SAP Analytics Cloud.

• They had their own custom-made but obsolete development in a very old SAP R/3 environment.
• Provide Navantia with a single tool for managing its more than 7,300 suppliers.
• Global visibility of the information, since it was reserved for the supplier evaluation team.
• Simplify and automate tasks such as managing supplier data, which required a lot of time and manual work when done via email.

• The data is under a controlled, auditable environment and has a record of the flows.
• Suppliers can register and update their information and documents directly.
• They have a more centralized and transparent process, since information about suppliers is accessible from all departments.
• The time allocated to supplier management has been reduced, using those resources in other tasks.
• After one year, they have more than 2,400 suppliers registered in SAP Ariba
• The efficiency of its purchasing processes has increased by 52% and the supply cycle time has been reduced by 25%.
